Pueraria Mirifica Test Finds No Cancer
Doctor Phaichit Warachit, study the toxicity Pueraria mirifica the past period seven
months for consumer protection. The study in the first phase had now been completed,
which was a study in white mice of both sexes by giving oral Pueraria mirifica
powder at 1,000 milligrams per 1 kilogram of the mouse weight for 3 successive
months compared with the control group receiving water.

As the outcome of the study it was found that the dose of 10 mg/kg/day of Pueraria
mirifica did not bring about an irregularity of blood cells of various kinds and
chemicals in blood, including not bringing about an irregularity of the internal
organs, while the mice receiving the dose of 100 mg/kg/day of Pueraria mirifica had
a decline in growth and eating; no irregularity of blood cells of various kinds was
found, but the protein content in the male mice decreased, while in the female mice
the uterus was found having a increasing weight, but no irregularity of the uterine
cells was found.

Meanwhile, the dose of 1,000 mg/kg/day of Pueraria mirifica caused the growth and
eating of the mice to decrease; the number of red corpuscles decreased in the mice
of both sexes. In the male mice there was a decrease of one-third in white
corpuscles and granules; there was blood congestion at the testicles while in the
female mice it caused the uterus to have and increasing weight. but no irregularity
of the uterine cells different from the control group was found.

The above study outcome points out that the dose of 10 mg/kg/day of Pueraria
mirifica does not cause toxicity to arise in the experimental animals, while the
dose of 100 mg/kg/day generates some irregularities in the white mice, so the
Department of medical Sciences proposes that the dose of Pueraria mirifica likely to
be safe in the Thais, whose average weight is about 50 kilograms, should be one not
exceeding 50-100 mg/day, given that human beings are about 5-10 times more sensitive
to toxicity than mice.
